Recently Read: Hand of Fire: the Comics Art of Jack Kirby
Charles Hatfield's analysis of Kirby's working methods and the probable apogee of his career as a storyteller is scholarly, thought-provoking, well-researched and perhaps, in places, controversial.
I'm looking forward to finding the time to write and post some notes and thoughts about the book and asking Charles, who I had the pleasure of talking to at this year's Mix comics symposium at CCAD, some follow-up questions. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, consider purchasing and reading the book: http://handoffire.wordpress.com/hand-of-fire-the-narrative-art-of-jack-kirby/

Is This Your Art?
Sometime in the past (I'm guessing around twenty years ago), I received a page of artwork from artist Darrell Grant for me to ink. I've searched for Darrell on Facebook and through the Small Press Association, to no avail.
If you're Darrell Grant, please contact me. If you'd still like me to ink the page, I can do that, too!

Let a Nix Artist Draw a Comic for You!
Feeling blue? How about your choice of a Nix Comics artist (moi included) and writer drawing a custom made comic book for you or your business?
The option is one of 16 or so pledge levels on Ken Eppstein's The Big Ask on Kickstarter. Boldly seeking funding for an entire year's worth of Nix Comics goodness, the Kickstarter initiative encompasses a broad range of pledge levels - so if you can't spring for the big kahuna described above, consider making a smaller pledge! Hint: I'm already working on a new Vicar story for Nix Comics Quarterly #5.

Petra Goldberg, Unsung Colorist
I love the colors Petra Goldberg used in these panels from Machine Man #5; colors so vivid they look good even through Marvel's then-crappy printing on low-quality paper, using plastic printing plates.
Petra Goldberg was a pseudonym for Petra Scotese, whose work I also remember enjoying on Thor and other mid-'70s Marvel comics.

Jersey Gods, You Are Missed
Why didn't this excellent, fun series by Glen Brunswick and Dan McDaid find an audience large enough to keep it alive? A shame, really.
