Bruce Chrislip's Free SPACE Mini

Small Press cartoonist, historian and all-around great guy Bruce Chrislip was giving out FREE copies of a special SPACE minicomic at the 2011 SPACE show.

I was honored that Bruce drew both me and my character, Landlark the Heat-Seeking Dwarf in the mini commemorating SPACE events he remembered. I was even more honored when Bruce gave me the original artwork for the page. Whatta guy!

Check out Bruce's excellent report on SPACE 2011 at the Midnight Fiction site: http://www.midnightfiction.com/shows/SPACE_2011.htm

Nick Fancher's Photokinesis

I've posted pics from Nick Fancher's recent Photokinesis exhibit (at Wild Goose Creative) on my NenoWorld site. Check them out here: http://www.nenoworld.com/Nick_Fancher.html

That site, BTW, will be my repository for future posted photo gallery photos as Blogger.com's formatting is acting mighty wacky lately: graphic files and text are showing differently in Preview mode than in the New Post box - and showing differently posted online than in the Preview and New Post box. I've wasted hours trying to wrangle problems with the above and now officially give up.

Agatha Harkness Drawn for Future Foundation Debut Sketchathon

I originally intended this drawing of Agatha Harkness, one of my fave Lee/Kirby characters, to remain penciled, but was so happy with it I decided to go all the way. Click on any of the drawings to see larger files.

Small Press Cartoonists Reunion at SPACE 2011

When small press cartoonist and historian Bruce Chrislip told me he was bringing the legendary Steve Willis to the Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo this year for the first time, I searched for some of Steve's Morty the Dog comics - which turned out to be in storage and inaccessible.

I did find a 1989 copy of Wade Busby and Ed Vick 's historic Comics Fandom Examiner, a major outlet for small press cartoonist news, reviews and networking in the pre-internet days. Glancing through the issue of Comics F/X at SPACE, I realized several cartoonists therein were present at the con and so set out to get autographs for the zine.

Here're the Hancocks I snagged:

Steve (Morty the Dog) Willis

Colin (Buddha on the Road) Upton

Matt (Antisocialman) Feazell

Larry (Nightstar) Blake

Bruce (City Limits Comix) Chrislip
Tim (Fred and Marvin) Corrigan

Space pics to be posted soon.

24 Hour Comics at Wild Goose Creative

Alex Heberling deep in thought.

One of cartoonist's greatest resources.

Thanks to Crimson Cup for providing the Armando's Blend. Super good!!

Talcott Starr, master of time management.

The pencils for my first page: Stan Laurel in an insane asylum.

Thanks to Wild Goose and, especially, Karl Boettcher for hosting the past weekend's 24 Hour Comics event.

This was my first 24-hour event. Now I know what can work and what doesn't (mainly, a text-heavy mini-epic which would take a week to finish!).

In any event, I will be finishing The Tell-Tale Heart, starring Laurel and Hardy.

Sorry, Canada, I took these pics before you arrived!
