Thanks to Ricki Elliot (who posted an article this week on the Do You Remember: Classic Old Columbus Facebook group), a mystery has been solved. The 1955 article about the opening of the record department in downtown Columbus Lazarus Dept, Store mentioned a special Lazarus Sampler 45 co-produced with RCA. I've owned the 45 for as long as I can remember and it's a fascinating artifact, a creepy and weird mixture of Henri Rene, Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C Sharp Minor and the Three Suns. I used my beat-up copy on the inside front cover of The Signifiers #1 (altering it to include the Signifiers logo). There will be more musical cues and allusions, as usual, in The Signifiers #3 - for those who know where to look.
