Recently Read: The Golden Argosy, September 17, 1887
The stories herein were nearly all Dickensian variations on the boy who, through happenstance (sometimes villainish) finds himself discredited/poor/outcast/accused and must, through pluck, faith and luck regain the standing he has lost and take his rightful place in society again.
The issue's filled out with a trading post, terse answers to seemingly hundreds of queries, quaint ads, pen and ink illustrations and non-fiction profiles and antidotes.
