Murphy Anderson, RIP
The great Murphy Anderson has passed away. Greater
historians than me can tell of his career. He inked the first Superman
comic I bought (Action Comics #427, 1973), so Superman drawn by Curt
Swan and Murphy Anderson will always be the definitive Superman for me.
He was a gentleman. I had a chance to talk to him at length at a con
several years back. He was sitting in a hallway, isolated, no one
around. I was surprised there wasn't a long line. He was modest and
soft-spoken. He graciously signed that first Superman comic I'd bought
almost forty years ago. (Photo from the Kirby Museum site).
