Barbara Stanwyck in Baby Face, Shown On 35mm

Tickets for our viewing of the original, uncut version of Stanwyck's deleriously pre-code Baby Face at the OSU Wexner Center for the Arts.

The film was shown using a new 35mm print and was presented by one of the film archivists who helped discover and restore the rare print.

You can read a blog entry by Wexner Center Film and Video Director Dave Filipi on the rarity of 35mm screenings here:
http://wexarts.org/wexblog/?p=4865.

On a related note, I was disappointed to discover that none of the older movies currently scheduled to be screened at the Wexner-run Gateway Theatre (Frankenstein, Groundhog Day, a John Hughes retrospective) are 35mm - all will be screened from Blu-Ray DVDs or shown from hard drive files provided by the films' production companies or distributors.

I can see old movies on DVD at home. Only at a movie theatre can we enjoy old films on the medium for which they were created and meant to be seen: film.
