Modern Movie Posters: the Blue and the Brown

A look at recent movie posters leads me to believe that poster designers are instructed to use a color palette restricted to blue and brown. A big exception to this seeming rule is that romantic comedies usually get a white background.

Compare those recent posters to some older ones wherein poster designers weren't afraid (or were allowed) to use a broad range of colors.
